My father and a toy boat and the essential truth of all professions

When I was a child I worked with my father on a wooden toy boat. I recall the tiller very clearly. You had the jib sail and the mainsail and the hull and the rudder. The wind decided the velocity and the course and the relative tightness of the sails and the movement of the tiller / this and the compass were all key to the elements of naval navigation.

The tiller must be aligned with the compass of deepest meaning for it to be fully harnessed.

This is the essential truth of all professions.
