Thoreau

“Most men lead lives of quiet desperation,” he wrote in Walden in 1854.

He went off to the woods to live most singularly as himself. To do such a thing is a gift to all mankind for authenticity is the mark of character.

To reverse this trend one must inquire into the nature of desperation. It is the drapery of insecurity. And insecurity is not the destiny of man. To see through it, is a sane act.
