Life is strange. The kid in school you least expected to succeed becomes a millionaire. The person you most trusted deceived you. Shit happens.
You grow in the process of the lessons life imparts to you. Make no mistake, those lessons are a privilege. You have your own. Unique to you.
I honor those lessons, naturally I do. Implicitly and implicately – and there is an important subtle difference between those two words.
But, in my case, my inquiry led me to South India. To Chennai, a hot city at the seat of power in the state of Tamil Nadu. I was there to build a business – and I did – 2 in fact. But that was just the surface layer. I came to south India to study the yoga sutras.
My teacher was exceptionally brilliant. He gifted me 3 physical things in 8 years.
A wedding invite to his daughter’s wedding.
A letter in response to a quandery of mine.
And, most importantly, a book of quotes.
In 8 years he taught me all 195 yoga sutras.
From that book of quotes two stand out:
To be successful you must decide exactly what you want to accomplish, then resolve to pay the price to get it.
I don’t know what your destiny will be, but one thing I do know: The only ones among you who will be really happy are those who have sought and found how to serve.
Those aren’t ideas. In the quantum age we live now in, they are truths.
